We got to The Basement Theatre about an hour early and asked them “Where’s a great place to eat around here?”
“Just up those stairs!”

So we went and checked it out… we climbed up the fire escape, opened the door directly into the kitchen— not what I was expecting— so we walked directly through, and sat down in this tiny, packed, whole-in-the-wall eatery.

Wow! Really yummy Japanese bar food! Black current soda. Sticks with fried rice-wedges, breaded and fried: steak, chicken and cheese, onion, cheese alone; and for dessert these really yummy wontons with chocolate melted inside. Delicious! We will definitely be returning.
